RIHANNA BRINGS SCHOLARSHIPS AND BIKES TO MALAWIAN GIRLS
Rihanna has been ramping up her efforts to further education in Malawi since visiting the impoverished southeast African country in January – and this time it involves bikes. In a new “1 KM Action” partnership, the singer’s Clara Lionel Foundation will join forces with bike-share platform ofo to not only fund scholarships for girls in Malawi through the foundation’s Global Scholarship Program, but also donate bikes to those students to relieve transportation challenges in getting to class. The first batch of ofo bikes have already been put into use in Malawi, kicking off what will become a five-year partnership.

“I’m so happy about the Clara Lionel Foundation’s new partnership with ofo because it will help so many young people around the world receive a quality education, and also help the young girls of Malawi get to school safely, cutting down those very long walks they make to and from school all alone,” Rihanna explains.

The 29-year-old singer and philanthropist recently shared a short documentary of her January trip to Malawi, where she met with educators, government officials and students as Ambassador for the Global Partnership for Education.

COREY TAYLOR BLASTS FANS WHO WATCH SHOWS THROUGH THEIR PHONES
Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor has slammed fans who film concerts with phone cameras, telling Loudwire Nights, “My thing has always been, it’s fine. Bring your phone, take pictures, do whatever you want. But why? Like, you’re there. Take pictures, it’s fine, do but why are you filming it? It’s one thing to film it, it’s another thing to just be staring at your screen while you’re filming it. It’s right there. Are you so terrified of real life that you can’t do anything unless it’s on that little four-by-four screen? Ugggh. It’s very weird.” Taylor was the center of controversy last year after he smacked a phone out of a fan’s hand at a Slipknot show. Taylor says he stands by his response to the fan texting in the front row. “Go to a show to see a show. You wanna text, stay home. You wanna find an excuse to text? Get out of the barricade! Let somebody else get up there! Don’t abuse it, because there are people who would push you down by your face to get there. Stop trying to find ways to get around it. Just shut up!” he said at the time.

Kanye West’s touring company is suing Lloyd’s of London for money they owe following the cancelation of Kanye’s “Saint Pablo” tour due to an alleged mental breakdown. Very Good Touring says that their policy with the company covers cancelation or non-appearance fees, however, they have not been paid for those shows. According to the lawsuit, Lloyd’s of London might not pay the money the touring company feels they are owed because they suspect Kanye’s breakdown was caused by his alleged marijuana use. Very Good Touring says the company has no evidence for their claims and are looking for “any ostensible excuse no matter how fanciful” to deny payment on the policy. VGT is suing the company for $9.8 million, plus interest. VGT filed a claim with the company back in November.
